Edsel Ford students and staff joined members of the Dearborn Police, Firefighters, and professional wheelchair basketball players for an evening of hoops and fundraising Feb. 18. "Not-quite-a-street-musician" Clyde Brown entertains diners at Pot Belly in West Dearborn on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. He also hosts the Spooky Talk Show at 3 p.m. Fridays on AM 1160 WCXI. As heavy snow begins to fall, demonstrators stand on a ledge of Dearborn City Hall’s porch Sunday to show support for pro-democracy movements in Yemen. More than 400 demonstrators showed support for the fledgling movements in Bahrain, Libya and Egypt in the vigorous protest and decried the violence used by the governments against their citizens.

An Amtrak engineer and a conductor watch as first responding Dearborn firefighters aid the driver of the city sidewalk snowplow tractor hit by the train Friday at Monroe Street. Her injuries were said to be serious but not life threatening. A preliminary investigation indicates that the operator of the tractor was plowing snow along a sidewalk when the blade of the plow became engaged with a rail on the train tracks, said a statement from the city. The operator attempted to disengage the plow blade and reverse the tractor but was unable to avoid being struck by the westbound train.

Swartz was standing in for attorney Mark Haidar, but Stockham objected to Haidar as court appointed attorney because he is a member of the mosque he is charged with attempting to bomb.

As much as some people seemed angry at repression by the Egyptian government, during Saturday’s demonstration at Dearborn City Hall, many of the demonstrators seemed cheered by the popular rebellion going on there.
