Roger Stockham and his attorney Jeffery Schwartz listen to Judge Mark Somers during Stockham’s preliminary exam Feb. 4 in 19th District Court. He is being held for allegedly threatening to bomb the Islamic Center of America on Ford Road Jan. 24 where Dearborn Police arrested him with explosives in the trunk of his car. Swartz was standing in for attorney Mark Haidar, but Stockham objected to Haidar as court appointed attorney because he is a member of the mosque he is charged with attempting to bomb.

Students at the Muslim Youth Academy pray before celebrating the holy holiday Eid al-Adha in 2007 by reenacting the hajj and a visit to Mecca. Dressed in all white, the 300+ students chanted and walked around the halls of the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn and circled a cube representing the Kaaba, a holy site in Mecca that all Muslims face when praying. Roger Stockham is charged with attempting to bomb the mosque.

Handymen Donald Lee (right) and Thomas Wooten carefully clear a slippery roof of snow Feb. 2 for a resident on Lehigh in Dearborn Heights. Lee said it’s important to get heavy snow off a roof to prevent ice dams.

Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly clears his driveway Feb. 2. He said using a snow shovel is a source of some exercise during the winter.

DuVall Elementary Building Engineer Dave Brice plows the sidewalks around the school Feb. 2 while the students stayed home.

The war on the floor was raging Feb. 1 when Fordson visited Edsel Ford. The Thunderbirds took control of a close game and rolled to a 59-48 victory.
