Hundreds of citizens, including many religious leaders and elected officials link arms in front of the Islamic Center of America April 21 after a vigil sponsored by the mosque and the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit. The meeting was in response to Florida based Pastor Terry Jones who has said he intended to protest in front of Islamic Center of America the next day. The protest, according to the permit request, is against Sharia and jihad. The mosque is the largest in North America in a city that claims one of the most densely populated Muslim enclaves in the United States.

Pastor Terry Jones and his assistant, Wayne Sapp, enter 19th District Court April 21 for a hearing on a verified complaint filed by the Wayne County prosecutor in response to Jones' plans to protest in front of Islamic Center of America Friday. The protest, according to the permit request, is against Sharia and jihad.

A group of young people unfurled a banner in front of the Islamic Center of America at 5 PM April 22 when people expected Florida based Pastor Terry Jones to arrive for his controversial protest. Hundreds of other protestors assembled at the Henry Ford Centennial Library for a sanctioned demonstration against the pastor.

Islamic Center of America Imam Hassan Qazwini, Archbishop Allen Vigneron, of the Archdiocese of Detroit, and Rev. George Shalhoub, of St. Mary Antiochan Orthodox Church, lead a procession into the center April 21 for a vigil sponsored by the mosque and the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit. The meeting was in response to Florida based Pastor Terry Jones who has said he intends to protest in front of Islamic Center of America the next day.
