Save Our Pools volunteer Ryan Woods asks for a show of hands by people who walked to the organization’s rally at Ten Eycke Pool May 31. The now empty swimming hole is one scheduled to be possibly closed in Dearborn’s city budget that will be finalized this coming week. Dozens of neighborhood people have volunteered to clean, repair and paint the smaller pools around the city and are asking the city to keep them open.

Workers with Marine Pollution Control prepare to pump fuel from a wrecked houseboat May 26 after it was pulled from the riverbank onto Fordson Island by an excavator in the effort to clear wrecks from the Rouge River. Urged on by Friends of the Rouge, the wrecked boats that littered the waterway were mostly removed last week.
