A group of students at Salina Intermediate School wait to sign up for homework help in January for the after school program that helps prepare them for high school. What  experts call a “consolidation” of Arab Americans in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, as well as the movement of African Americans to both cities, helped them buck the population trends for Southeast Michigan as seen in the 2010 census figures.

Kinloch elementary students found humor in some of the antics of the Brainstorm team as they acted out selected stories written students at Kinloch Elementary in January. An influx of families has kept Dearborn Heights’ population stable over the past 10 years.

The vacant building at 22000 Garrison has an historic plaque labeling it as the former U.S. Arsenal Officers’ – Surgeons’ Quarters 1833-1875. The building was later a school and then the headquarters for PlasTech. A request for a zoning variance to turn it into an academy was rejected by the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday.
